Throughout the last years the business ecosystem has gained sensitivity regarding the role that pets play in the life of professionals, aware of evolution in households and families. In this sense, there are numerous organizations that allow the animals to go to the office; while some have established paid permits for their death. Now, adoption also adds to conciliation measures.
The Pets & Vets pet health portal has implemented a new package of labor measures that seeks to boost both people’s well -being and that of their pets. Among the novelties include the paid permits of three days for adoption of an animal and a week in case of death of the pet.
Pets & Vets also offers unlimited time for veterinary visits
However, it has also established additional days, such as the “furry day”, to celebrate the animal’s birthday; and unlimited time for veterinary visits, in addition to the permits by agreement. It also offers four -day work week and intensive summer day, provided that objectives are met; and promotes a day of volunteer a year in collaboration with NGOs and animal protection entities.
“In Pets & Vets we want to demonstrate that it is possible to build a company that combines technological innovation with a labor model adapted to the needs of multispecie families and consistent with our values”, Said Lorena García Martos, CEO and co-founder of Pets & Vets, created in 2023.
Although the company defines its initiative as an unprecedented in the country, the truth is that others have previously launched similar measures, which shows evolution and growing consciousness by organizations towards the reality of professionals and animal welfare.
In May of this year the Spanish brand of products for animal animals & CO announced the implementation of three days of permission paid for the death of the pet. The measure thus recognized the emotional impact of this type of losses among employees, in a context in which pets have gained relevance at social and economic level.
“Going to work the next day your dog or cat dies is one of the toughest things you can do. It is a brutal pain, a feeling of loss that is heartbreaking”, Explained Claudia Cañellas, founder of the company, in a video posted through Instagram.”For many people it hurts more than the loss of a relative not so close, for which you have paid permission days”
Previously, in 2022, the insurer specializing in Santévet pets implemented an employee service to offer two paid days in case of adoption of a pet. The license can be enjoyed in the three months of the adoption or purchase of the animal, to receive its pet in its new home and favor its adaptation to its new space and family.
The company also offers a day in the case of death of the company animal, and since 2017 it has the “Pet at Work” policy that allows employees to take their dog to the office.
“The first days of an animal in its new home are vital for its development and to feel one more member of the family. Therefore, it is essential to be with him and foster that integration by accompanying their owners“Hugues Salord, CEO and founder of Santévet explained, at the time.”We are very proud to be one of the first companies in Spain to offer this permission to our employees“
