This Monday, May 13, in Versailles, the 7th edition of the annual “Choose France” summit is being held. A meeting of the executive to praise the attractiveness of France to foreign investors.
It is the European destination for investors. This year, like the last six, Emmanuel Macron, the President of the Republic, and his ministers, are opening the doors of the sumptuous Palace of Versailles to foreign business leaders. Today, in this Monday May 13they are 180 to go to the annual government meeting. Handpicked, they will discuss with members of the State until they are convinced that France is the best choice for investing. For this edition, artificial intelligence, green industry, health and decarbonization will be at the heart of the discussions.
Choose France, land of investments
“Choose France” or “choose France” is a summit that makes France shine. Chaired by Emmanuel Macronit welcomes many international bosses from different sectors of activity. Under the auspices of the government, this strategic meeting strengthens the attraction of France as a destination of choice for foreign capital. In other words, the goal is to make France a strategic hub in Europe. According to the EY barometer, for five years, France has dominated Europe by being thehe most attractive country on the continent for foreign investors. In 2023, 28 projects were announced for 13 billion euros of investments.
180 companies from all over the world
The Élysée is firmly convinced that privileged access to the President will promote the realization of projects. In addition to these meetings, individual meetings are planned with the leaders of prestigious companies. Among the participants are the leaders of renowned companies such as ArcelorMittal, JP Morgan, Bank of America, Coca-Cola, AstraZeneca or even Novartis, JD or Air Products (…). 30% of members will attend this summit for the first time. The event will also host business leaders from Nigeria and India, while 20% of participants will be North American and 20% Asian.

15 billion euros for 56 projects
This year, the 2024 edition of “Choose France” exceeded the record requests for participation. But not only that… He also has a record amount of 15 billion euros of foreign investment for 56 countries. Among the selected companies, several are preparing to announce their investment intentions in different areas. Microsoft announced a significant investment of 4 billion euros in the development of data centers in France. These funds will be dedicated to strengthening the country’s IT infrastructure, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence. Microsoft will expand its facilities to a third city, Mulhouse. “ This is the largest investment ever made in France by Microsoft“, declares Brad Smithpresident of the company, at Le Figaro. Amazon also announced a new project. With 1.2 billion euros investments, Jeff Bezos’ company will invest in its infrastructure and create 3,000 jobs.
At home, the pharmaceutical group Sanofi will invest more of a billion euros in the production of medicines. A new factory will be created on the Vitry-sur-Marne site. For its third participation, Pfizer, the American pharmaceutical giant, is once again unveiling an ambitious project. Huge head in the health field, the company will invest this year 500 million euros in research into the treatment of cancer and sickle cell disease. Likewise, several projects focused on decarbonization will be confirmed during this edition of “Choose France”. New Aquitaine will receive visitors just like the Somme with the construction of nickel refining and aeronautics factories for the assembly of electric planes.
