A black background and the renowned attractiveness of Brad Pitt is what the neobank Trade Republic considers it needs to capture the attention and interest of the audience, as it conveys in its new advertising campaign. With a deliberately simple approach, the company announces the actor as a global brand ambassador and communicates the benefits of his paid account.
The campaign has been designed by Trade Republic’s internal team and represents, according to the brand itself in a statement, the largest marketing effort in the company’s history. It is aimed at users of the European markets in which the entity operates, seeking to make them reflect on what their current banks offer them and consider Trade Republic as an alternative.
All of this is translated into a minimalist piece that only consists of Brad Pitt entering a black room, sitting in a chair and looking at the camera. However, the announcement details three clear benefits of the product: 3.04% APR for new customers, Spanish IBAN and Bizu, and 1% refund on card payments. The piece ends by asking viewers “And your bank, what does it offer you?”
The piece is the result of months of work. The brand met with Brad Pitt in Los Angeles in January to bring the production to life, and the creative execution has been carried out in close collaboration with the actor’s team, including some of his trusted collaborators, including photographer Martin Schoeller and stylist George Cortina.
The campaign, which will run on television, streaming platforms and digital channels, communicates to consumers that Trade Republic offers people more for their money. “No empty promises or complicated messages, but solid product benefits that millions of people understand immediately and make them question their current bank“explains Christian Hecker, Co-Founder of the company, in a statement.
At a tactical level, the campaign transfers the benefits of your account, with interest as the main attraction, and at a strategic level it positions Trade Republic as a modern and solid alternative to traditional banking. “In Spain, millions of people continue to receive very little from their bank, paying high commissions and hardly any remuneration for their money.“, comments Pablo López Gil-Albarellos, Country Manager of Spain and Portugal at Trade Republic. “With this campaign we want to show, in a simple and transparent way, that there is a different alternative.”.
With the intention of gaining loyalty in European markets, the company also offers advantages for existing customers. Thus, it points out that for each new client successfully referred, current users will receive 3% interest for three months.
