Los nuevos trofeos de oro, plata y bronce de El Sol

The 40th edition of El Sol – Ibero-American Festival of Advertising Communication has rewarded advertising and creativity in the last year. A total of 10 countries have been recognized with these awards in a ceremony held at the Cervantes Theater in Malaga. The ranking of awards by country has been led by Spain, with 98 awards, followed by Colombia (15), Mexico (12), Argentina (10) and Peru (8).

Platinum Sun

The Platinum Sun, the Festival’s highest award chosen among all the great awards, has gone to “Tiny Coffee Shops” with the pieces Casa Eletta, Milan; Magnifica Kissa, Tokyo; and La Petite Rivelia, Paris, by the Lola Madrid agency for De’Longhi.

With this campaign, De’Longhi addressed one of the main barriers in its category: although more than 80% of coffee is consumed at home, 72% of consumers continue to associate the best coffee experience with specialized establishments. To challenge that perception, the brand collaborated with agency Lola Madrid and miniature designer Simon Weisse on “Tiny Coffee Shop”s, a series of detailed coffee shop models inspired by cities like Milan, Tokyo, Paris, Copenhagen and Berlin.

Each of these miniature coffee shops was handcrafted on different models of De’Longhi machines, establishing a visual association between the experience of a reference coffee shop and domestic consumption.
The campaign also incorporates material developed in stop-motion that reinforces this idea through narrative language.

Grand Prix

On this occasion, the campaigns carried out by agencies from Latin America and the United States Hispanic market have obtained 4 of the 6 Grand Prizes awarded by the festival. The awards have gone to the following works:

  • “Fictional Insurance”, by TBWA Colombia for RCN/Seguros del Estado, has won the grand prize in Brand Activation and Experience.
  • “A bridge across the Bay, Cruz del Campo”, by Ogilvy Spain for Cruzcampo, has won the grand prize in Branded Content.
  • “The Golden Zone”, by TBWA Colombia for McDonald’s, has won the grand prize in Digital and Mobile.
  • “Tiny Coffee Shops”, by LOLA Madrid for De’Longhi, has won the grand prize in Exterior.
  • “Prime Time 0.7”, by Fahrenheit DDB for Latina, has won the grand prize in Media.
  • “Shooting”, by Oriental Films for Article 19, has won the grand prize in Production.

The big awards in Health, Integrated Campaigns, Public Relations, Film, Print Media, Design, Audio and Innovation have been deserted.

Agency of the Year

The Festival’s Agency of the Year has been TBWA Colombia with a total of 14 soles, of which 9 have been gold, 3 silver and 2 Grand Prix.
The agency thus becomes the first in the history of the festival to temporarily guard the award until the next edition, as a guardian of the best Ibero-American creativity. Next year you will have to return it so that the winning agency can then pick up the baton.

The ranking of agencies has been led by TBWA Colombia, followed by Lola Madrid (Spain), Ogilvy Spain (Spain), VML The Cocktail (Spain) and Fahrenheit DDB (Peru).

Independent Agency of the Year

PS21 has been awarded as an Independent Agency with a total of 6 soles, of which 1 has been gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze.

More than 50 advertisers have won one of the awards, with KFC being the one that received the Advertiser of the Year recognition.
