In your christmas advertisementTesco depicts the emotional journey a grandson, Gary, takes following the death of his grandmother, as he learns to cope with a different kind of Christmas. After his grandfather gives him a packet of gingerbread cookies from Tesco at the beginning of the advert, the christmas spirit Gary’s character explodes into the world around him, creating a gingerbread universe around him.
Gary, who always did gingerbread cookies with his grandmother, he ends the ad by creating a new tradition: making a gingerbread house with his grandfather. The spot ends with the slogan “Helping to feed the Christmas spirit,” which is also the title of the campaign.
It is a creative work by the Bartle Bogle Hegarty London agency and, according to the Marketing Director at Tesco, Alicia Southgate, “The advert reflects the idea that Tesco is there for its customers all year round, not just at Christmas.”
