For the first time since the end of 2021 there is a new television audience leader. La1 has managed to take the lead thanks to the broadcast of the Soccer World Cup, which has recorded its best June in the last fifteen years. However, the monitoring of the international sports tournament has maintained similar levels of media consumption compared to previous months.

These are the main conclusions that can be drawn from Barlovento’s monthly audience report, prepared with data from Kantar, and which once again highlights the interest in sporting events. According to the consultancy, the time of traditional television consumption per viewer (out of the total number of those who watch television each day) has stood at 274 minutes. This is the same figure as in May and 2 minutes less compared to the same period last year.

Furthermore, the time of traditional television consumption per person (over the entire Spanish population: 47.5 million) has been 157 minutes. The figure is only one minute less than the previous month, and also one minute less than in June 2025.

Women and those over 75 years of age are those who consume the most television

Who watches television in Spain?

Regarding the profile of viewers, the analysis indicates that those who spent the most time watching television in May were women (165 minutes) and people over 75 years of age (338 minutes). By location, Asturias (186 minutes), Castilla y León (178 minutes), and Andalusia (177 minutes) are the regions that consumed the most television.

According to the report, unique viewers accumulated in June reached 43.8 million, which represents 92.2% of Spain’s population that does contact traditional television. On the other hand, 27.2 million Spaniards watched traditional television for at least one minute every day, that is, 57.2% of the population.

It should be noted that in June there were 3.7 million “telephobes”, which means that 7.8% of the population did not watch traditional television at any time.

Streaming television consumption

Barlovento’s analysis points out that hybrid consumption time, that linked to “other audiovisual consumption” other than traditional television, such as streaming, video games or radio, stood at 53 minutes per person per day in June. This reflects a decrease of 1 minute compared to May, and an increase of 4 minutes compared to June 2025.

This type of consumption represents 25% of total television use in Spain; and is distributed as follows: 47 minutes for internet or streaming, 3 minutes for “play” or recorded video; and 2 minutes for video games, radio and other actions.

This implies that the total time of television use (traditional television + other uses) has been 210 minutes per person per day. The figure reflects 3 minutes less than in May, but 1 minute more than in June of last year.
In addition, the total time of television use per viewer per day has been 326 minutes. which represents a decrease of 1 minute compared to the previous month, and 1 minute more compared to June 2025.
