Last Friday, September 27, it premiered “The echo of other voices”the documentary film about the life of the designer and businessman Adolfo Dominguezwithin the framework of Ourense Film Festival (OUFF). This presentation has been the prelude to its national and international launch, which will take place in 2025.
The feature film, as explained by the brand in a statement, reconstructs life and professional career of Adolfo Domínguez, from his childhood in the town of Trives (Ourense), to his youth in Paris or his time in prison. From the firm they point out that the film “brings to light the unusual aspects of a multifaceted man and in which his disagreements and international successes fit”.
“The echoes of other voices” has been written and directed by Adriana Domínguezdaughter of the designer and President of the company since 2020. It is a production of the Adolfo Dominguez Foundation -created ten years ago with the mission of promoting arts, science and health- and has had the collaboration of the Ourense Provincial Council.
The project of this feature film started at the end of 2022when the brand announced that it was in the pre-production phase. At that time it was announced that the film sought to discover unprecedented aspects in the designer’s life at different stages of his personal and professional career and that it would feature the participation of other intellectuals, friends and contemporaries of the protagonist.
Adolfo Domínguez points out that it is an intimate film, and describes the process as “a movie buff adventure“. With a strong artistic vision, they convey that the feature film represents an approach to Adolfo Domínguez as an emblem of fashion, but also an enigma. They highlight the recovery of linen by the designer, which would give rise to the emblematic “The wrinkle is beautiful” advertising campaign.
As part of its premiere at the festival, the film could also be seen on Sunday, September 29 at the Teatro Principal in Ourense and will have another showing on October 1 at the Cine Ponte Vella, in Ourense.
