While waiting for the CNMV to authorize the public acquisition offer (OPA), BBVA has launched a campaign where its shareholders invite those of Banco Sabadell to dialogue around a joint project: “Our new bank.” The campaign, which highlights the shareholders of both entities, emphasizes the message that the union of the two banks would result in a new, larger, solid and competitive entity, both nationally and internationally.
With media planning that includes presence on television, radio, digital platforms and outdoor media, the campaign has not included actors, but rather real BBVA shareholders who invite those of Banco Sabadell to imagine together what the new bank would be like. “Both entities are complementary and their union would result in a very attractive project for everyone”they say from BBVA in a statement.
Last July, BBVA shareholders supported the capital increase necessary to offer the shareholders of Banco Sabadell “a space in a global project for the future”. For this reason, the entity explains, BBVA has dedicated the campaign to starting a conversation between shareholders.
The combination of BBVA and Banco Sabadell, once approved, would create one of the ten largest banks in Europe and the second in Spain, it would have more than 100 million clients around the world and almost 7,000 bank branches serving all its clients.
The resulting bank, as BBVA expresses in its statement, would allow it to compete solidly in the European and global markets, ensuring a leadership position that would benefit all interest groups: shareholders, customers, employees and society.
