OpenAI is looking for a Head of Ads Enterprise Marketing, that is, a professional with a marketing executive profile to boost the company’s advertising business among corporate clients. Their task, as the company explains in a statement, will be to help advertisers and agencies understand, evaluate and adopt the company’s advertising solutions.
The selection process for this new position opens just two months after the addition of David Dugan, previously Meta’s Global Vice President of Clients and Agencies, as Global Head of Advertising Solutions, reflecting OpenAI’s ambition to develop and grow its advertising business.
OpenAI began incorporating ads into ChatGPT last January
It is worth remembering that OpenAI introduced advertising to its ecosystem of tools with the incorporation of ads in the free version of ChatGPT in January of this year. Specifically, it began testing in the United States in the Free and Go versions, the cheapest subscription plan present in more than 170 countries, with the intention, as the company noted at the time, that more people can use the chatbot with fewer restrictions or without having to pay.
The functions of the position
The job offer now published is aimed at consolidating OpenAI’s proposal in advertising, which has been expanding in recent months. The person who takes office will be responsible for defining “the narratives that position OpenAI as a premier advertising platform for marketers around the world”, as the company explained in a statement.
More specifically, the selected person will be responsible for:
- Define the comprehensive marketing strategy for corporate clients
- Develop OpenAI’s narrative, positioning, and enterprise creative messaging architecture
- Build compelling brand positioning that positions OpenAI as a trusted and differentiated platform
- Develop thought leadership and content strategy programs “that position OpenAI as a leading voice in the future of advertising, AI, creativity and measurement”
- Create executive storytelling frameworks and high-impact communications for high-level client meetings
- Develop strategic sales training programs and materials that help commercial teams articulate differential value in different sectors, customer segments and buying audiences
- Create customer success stories and evidence that demonstrate measurable business results and advertiser success
- Manage OpenAI’s presence and narrative strategy at major industry events such as Cannes Lions, CES, Advertising Week, Possible and DMEXCO
- Collaborate closely with other OpenAi teams to translate roadmap innovations into market-ready launches, customer education, and enterprise sales strategies.
- Establish measurement frameworks to monitor brand perception and interaction with executives
The requirements
The company has also shared the requirements for the candidates, among which the requirement of 12 years of experience in B2B marketing, advertising sales marketing, product marketing, brand strategy or strategic market launch leadership stands out. The company will also value applicants’ experience in creating marketing programs at scale, in-depth understanding of advertiser and agency decision-making, or in developing positioning strategies and brand narratives.
The candidate must have great analytical skills and results orientation
Previous experience creating content and event marketing strategies, or developing plans and methodologies to help sales teams drive sales, will also be an advantage. Likewise, OpenAI requires that the candidate have great analytical skills and results orientation, that they function successfully in dynamic environments and have leadership and team management skills.
The position is based in San Francisco, California, with a hybrid schedule of three days a week in the office, and the salary is between $374,000 and $415,000. Among the benefits of the position are medical and dental insurance, a retirement plan, maternity or paternity leave of between 20 and 24 weeks, two weeks of paid rest, subsistence allowance, and a training program.
