Nespresso and Swarovski have united their respective brand universes in a limited edition collaboration for the festive season. Under the “Nespresso x Swarovski” concept, the two brands connect coffee and crystal through a collection of accessories, decorative elements and gift proposals that seek to incorporate Swarovski’s characteristic shine to the moments associated with coffee consumption.
The collaboration is based on two seemingly distant categories, but which the companies link around the same idea: elevating small everyday moments through the product, design and experience. Nespresso provides the ritual of coffee and Swarovski its work with crystal, color and shine.
The coffee capsule has been reinterpreted as a glass Christmas ornament
“Today’s consumers are looking for more than just products. They are looking for experiences, discovery and moments worth celebrating and sharing”explained Leonardo Aizpuru, Chief Marketing Officer of Nespresso, when presenting the collaboration.
The Nespresso capsule, reinterpreted in glass
One of the most recognizable elements of Nespresso moves directly into Swarovski territory. The coffee capsule has been reinterpreted as a glass ornament, available in two designs designed to be incorporated into the Christmas tree or other decoration elements during the holidays.
The pieces feature a brushed chrome finish, a satin ribbon and multiple facets that take advantage of Swarovski’s so-called Shimmer effect. In this way, the collaboration uses one of Nespresso’s characteristic visual codes and brings it to the category in which the Austrian firm has historically built its identity.
The proposal is accompanied by a visual campaign in which Nespresso drinks and products appear integrated with jewels from different Swarovski families, such as Millenia, Gema and Una Angelic, reinforcing the connection between coffee moments and the brand’s fashion, color and style codes.
The Advent calendar as a brand experience
Beyond the objects in the collection, Nespresso is using the collaboration to reinforce its commitment to generating experiences around coffee. One of the main exponents is the Advent calendar, which Leonardo Aizpuru positions as a representation of the strategy pursued by the company.
The interest, as the manager explains, lies both in what each compartment contains and in the dynamics it generates during December: daily anticipation, surprise and the discovery of something new.
“In many ways, that is the opportunity for brands today: to create experiences that people actively want to return to, that generate anticipation, spark emotions and create lasting memories”says the CMO of Nespresso.
For Nespresso, the alliance allows us to explore how to generate value “beyond the cup.” Aizpuru acknowledges that, at first glance, “coffee and crystals can seem worlds apart,” but consider that both companies share an aspiration around the everyday experience: Swarovski from design and craftsmanship, and Nespresso from coffee.
The collection thus materializes a common strategy in cobranding between brands from different categories: combining recognizable codes from both to access new territories of expression without abandoning their respective core products.
In this case, the capsule is transformed into a decorative object, the coffee is integrated into the visual universe of jewelry and the Advent calendar expands the product towards an experience based on expectation and discovery. “Each element is designed to invite you to explore and bring a little more brightness to the season”explains Aizpuru about the proposal, with which Nespresso and Swarovski propose a new reading of the daily ritual of coffee during the holidays.
