Antena 3 has continued to lead the television audience in the month of February thanks to the strength of its three main contents: the news programs, “El hormiguero” and “Pasapalabra”, which monopolize the list of the 25 most viewed broadcasts. Its main rival, La1, has not managed to remove its position, despite the broadcast of football, the Goya awards gala or the Benidorm Fest. The distance between the two continues, for another month, at 0.7 percentage points.
It is one of the conclusions that can be drawn from Barlovento’s monthly audience report, prepared with data from Kantar. This indicates a slight improvement in television consumption compared to the previous year, but not compared to the previous month, probably due to a more favorable weather situation for leisure away from home.
Television consumption time per viewer was 290 minutes
According to the consulting firm, the traditional television consumption time per viewer (referring to those who watch television every day) has been placed at 290 minutes. This is 7 minutes more than in January, but the same as the same period last year.
Furthermore, the time of traditional television consumption per person (over the entire Spanish population: 47.5 million) has been 170 minutes. The figure is 5 minutes more than the previous month, but 3 minutes less than in February 2025.
Who watches television in Spain?
Regarding the profile of the viewers, the study points out that those who spent the most time watching television in January were women (181 minutes) and people over 74 years of age (369 minutes). By location, Castilla y León (202 minutes), Galicia (199 minutes) and Asturias (196 minutes) are the regions that consumed the most television.
According to the report, unique viewers accumulated in February reached 43,376,000, which represents 91.9% of the population of Spain, which
It does contact traditional television. The figure represents a decrease of 1% compared to January. On the other hand, 27.9 million Spaniards watched traditional television for at least one minute every day, that is, 58.7% of the population. The data reflects a drop of -0.1% compared to the previous month.
On the other hand, there were 4.1 million “telephobes”, which means that 8.8% of the population did not watch television at any time during the month of February. The figure represents an increase of almost one million viewers compared to the previous month.
Streaming television consumption
The Barlovento study points out that hybrid consumption time, that linked to “other audiovisual consumption” other than traditional television, such as streaming, video games or radio, stood at 59 minutes per person per day in January. This reflects a decrease of 3 minutes compared to January, and an increase of 9 minutes compared to February 2025.
This type of consumption represents 26% of total television use in Spain; and it is broken down as follows: 53 minutes for internet/streaming; 4 minutes for play/recorded video and another 2 minutes for others/video games and radio.
Hybrid consumption has 35.2 million total unique viewers
This implies that the total time of television use (traditional television + other uses) has been 229 minutes per person per day. The figure reflects 8 minutes less than in January, and 1 minute more than in February of last year.
In addition, the total time of television use per viewer per day has been 345 minutes. which represents a decrease of 13 minutes compared to the previous month, but 3 minutes more than in February 2025.
