One year after announcing it, Instagram is widely rolling out the “Reorder your gird” feature, which allows users to reorganize the content posted on their profiles to highlight the posts they want, highlight their most relevant work, or enhance the expression of their personality.
The goal is to give users greater flexibility and creative control over how their profiles are presented so they can choose the order in which their content appears based on their priorities. With this, the social network offers an alternative to the model that prevailed until now, which was the chronological order, with the exception of the possibility of pinning three posts at the top.
The function allows you to reorder posts in the profile regardless of their age
With the new feature, pinned posts will continue to maintain top positions, but “Reorder your gird” will allow you to place and sort the others along the grid regardless of their age. “Reorder your grid” was already available to some selected users in beta, but since June 8 it is being widely implemented in the Android and iPhone applications.
With this feature, users will be able to highlight a specific theme or creative vision without having to archive or republish content; as well as recovering old publications to give them new visibility. They will also be able to update the aesthetics of the profile or give visibility to relevant projects and works if they use Instagram for professional matters. This can be interesting for creators to prepare their profiles for potential collaborations with brands.
Using the function is simple, since Instagram has opted for a “select and drag” system. So, simply tap any post in the grid, select “reorder grid” from the pop-up menu, and drag the content to the desired position. Changes are saved immediately and are visible to all profile visitors.
The new function, according to Fast Company, responds to the requests that users have made regarding this possibility over time. What’s more, Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, has shared a post on his profile collecting user comments under the text “Finally”, that is, “Finally”.
