“Find Your Summer” or why eating ice cream in winter

The award -winning campaign is that with which Magnum sought Desestationalize ice cream consumption and boost sales In the United Kingdom. To do this, he invited consumers to find summer in winter with a creative concept and a narrative focused on the sun’s rays.

It was composed of external advertising graphs, Based on the photographs taken by Ale Burset, which reflected that it is possible to find the warm sensation and emotion of summer even in the coldest station, which gives rise to be able to experience moments typical of the summer period, even if only for a few seconds.

The campaign also included A spotdirected by the filmmaker Juan Cabral; an application to help consumers find the right places to enjoy Sun in real time; and a system of Push notifications Based on geolocation to send discounts and thus acquire Magnum ice cream in stores near the location.

In this way, the campaign has been able to generate a new occasion of consumption and create a new habit among customers, all this challenging communicative codes of the feeding category -with the use of black and white against color -, but maintaining consistency and building on the positioning of the brand around enjoyment and pleasure.

From Lola Mullenlowe they also pointed out that the strategy has had a positive impact on Magnum’s international business, and that the campaign has become, on the one hand, a finding that the brand can sell its product in winter and, on the other, on an extrapolable solution to other markets.
