While diving with his family during the holidays, a boy emerges with a small octopus on his head who wants to be part of the young man’s world, on dry land. The Disney Christmas ad is a creative work of Adam & Eve/DDB and was directed by Taika Waititi.

The boy shows the octopus his Buzz Lightyear action figure and his Jedi lightsaber. He cuts eye holes in his Mickey Mouse hat so he can take his cephalopod friend outdoors and show him the snow and Christmas lights. But the octopus dreams big and wants to travel the world with Santa Claus.

The soundtrack is composed of a melodic performance of “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid, and highlights the octopus’ desire to explore the world above. It was recorded live by a 60-piece orchestra and mixed at the legendary Abbey Road recording studio.
