Clickars and Adopt a Grandparent make it possible for the elderly to see the Christmas lights

Enjoying the Christmas lighting in Spanish cities and towns these days is one of the most common plans to share time with family. In this context Clicksa reconditioned car buying and selling company, has organized its “Christmas on Wheels” initiative for the fourth consecutive year, in collaboration with the project Adopt a Grandparent.

The action aims avoid unwanted loneliness and encourage the social inclusion of older people, since there are currently more than 2 million people over 65 years of age living alone in Spain. Clicars has thus provided the necessary resources so that 22 seniors from Madrid residences can see the city’s Christmas lights.

For the action, more than 50 Clicars employees have “adopted” seniors who live alone in residences in the south of Madrid, specifically Vitalia Home Leganés and Amavir Alcorcón. After having a snack at the Clicars facilities in Villaverde, they visited together Madrid’s Christmas lighting visiting historical places such as Neptuno, Paseo del Prado, Gran Vía or Puerta de Alcalá aboard Eco cars.

“This is an initiative that Clicars workers look forward to throughout the year. It is very gratifying to spend quality, emotional time with the elderly and see how some of them repeat.”says José Carlos del Valle, CEO of Clicars. “It is enriching to be part of the generational exchange and to be able to add kilometers of solidarity in our environment by making our cars available to the elderly.”

On behalf of Adopta un Abuelo, Alberto Cabanes, its Founder, points out: “Collaborations like that of Clicars allow us to multiply the positive impact on the lives of the elderly and promote intergenerational visibility. “Companies can contribute real value to society, converting their resources and the commitment of their teams into transformative experiences.”

The route was carried out in Eco cars, suitable for driving through low-emission areas in the center of Madrid, in a bid to sustainable mobility.
“Christmas on wheels” is an initiative framed in Clicars’ ESG policy and its #KilómetrosQueSuman campaign, with which the company uses its cars to carry out solidarity actions. With this action the company says it has added 600 kilometers to its solidarity meter.
