BMW has appointed Carlos Martínez Gil as the new Marketing Director for Iberia, a position he will occupy as of September 1. He has been part of the company for more than twenty years and since 2020 he has served as General Director of the Mini brand for Spain and Portugal.
Carlos Martínez Gil replaces Gonzalo Sanjuán in the position, who has served as CMO of the automotive group since April 2021. The manager will continue his professional career linked to BMW as Director of the NSC of Brazil.
The movements join other recent ones within the company, such as that of Jorge Bautista as the new CEO of BMW Group Netherlands, a position he has held since July 1.

As explained by the company in a statement, in the new position Martínez Gil will be in charge of leading BMW’s marketing strategy in Spain and Portugal, “contributing his knowledge of the market, his experience in the business and a comprehensive and transversal vision to continue promoting the positioning of the brand in the Iberian region”.
Carlos Martínez Gil, with training in economics and business sciences, has three decades of experience in the marketing and sales disciplines of the automotive sector. He began his career in the marketing and sales area of Volkswagen Finance, the official financial division of the Volkswagen Group, where he worked for more than nine years.
In 2005 he joined BMW Financial Services, where he held various positions of responsibility until assuming, in 2012, the Commercial and Marketing Management of BMW Bank. During this period, he was in charge of leading the areas of Sales, Marketing, CRM, Remarketing, dealer financing and Insurance, which according to the company, allowed him to acquire a global vision of the business and the evolution of new mobility solutions.
In his last stage within the group he has put his knowledge and experience at the service of Mini as General Director for the Iberian region. In this position he has driven the transformation and growth of the brand and contributed to strengthening its positioning in both markets.
