The designer baby stroller brand Bugaboo has launched a multi-year collaboration with the fashion brand Stella McCartney that will materialize in the co-branding of products, the first of which is scheduled for next September. The movement strengthens the commitment of both brands to the premium segment and demonstrates the “luxurification” of part of the category.
According to Bugaboo, the collaboration unites two brands recognized for their innovation, craftsmanship and sustainability and seeks to reinvent “luxury parenting” through the particular perspective of Stella McCartney. The alliance will span several years and will be based on the shared philosophy around conscious design, personal expression and innovation in comfort and convenience.
It represents, as the brand itself points out, Bugaboo’s first major collaboration in more than 10 years. However, he has previously worked with other brands, all of them from the fashion industry, such as Missoni, Diesel or Kith. The alliance now established with Stella McCartney represents a strategic move to strengthen Bugaboo’s reputation and expand its base of potential customers, as it aims to attract parents with a sensitivity to design.
According to Adriaan Thierry, Executive Director of Bugaboo, the association responds to the demands of a new generation of parents who expect the brands they choose to focus on design and culture. “By combining Stella McCartney’s signature creative perspective with Bugaboo’s tradition of functional design and engineering excellence, we have created a collection that connects with a new generation of parents who don’t want to choose between performance, style and values.”, he commented.
This will be reflected, among other things, in the techniques and materials used in the collaboration, which will include recycled polyester fabrics made from plastic bottles; waterless dyeing technology; recycled aluminum; and bio-based materials, designed to reduce environmental impact.
“Working with Bugaboo has been completely natural, as it is a brand that shares our commitment to innovation and responsibility.“Stella McCartney has noted.”This collection is designed for anyone who wants to bring their own individuality and a touch of fun to parenthood.“.
The brands have not revealed further details about the products that will be launched under the alliance.
The collaboration is part of a trend of reinterpreting paternity/motherhood within the framework of self-expression. As Bugaboo explains, today’s fathers and mothers understand their role as an extension of their identity and a means of personal expression. This has opened spaces for brands in the sector, and those from other industries, to explore opportunities for connection, business and product development.
Specifically, it has generated favorable terrain for luxury brands, such as the supercar manufacturer Lamborghini, which in March 2025 announced the collaboration with the childcare brand Silver Cross. Together they developed co-branding to create a luxurious baby stroller, called “Reef AL Arancio”, which was launched as an exclusive and limited edition with 500 units for sale. Currently it can be purchased on the website at a price between 3,000 and 3,700 pounds, depending on the elements included.
Premium fashion brands have also found an opportunity in childcare to expand their business and brand presence. In March 2023, Louis Vuitton launched its first brand collection, following in the footsteps of Dior or Gucci, which had previously launched products aimed at babies and children.
