Christmas is a special time in which the desire to make dreams come true is shared and is usually celebrated with gifts wrapped in paper that the Three Wise Men deliver. In this sense, the NGO Babies Uganda has devised a way to allow all the people who will exchange gifts during these Holidays to contribute their grain of sand. The idea was to create a solidarity gift wrapdesigned with Christmas motifs illustrated by the children of the island of Kava in Uganda in collaboration with the educational centers with which the NGO collaborates. Several of Merlin Properties’ shopping centers will offer, through the free packaging service, more than 9 kilometers of this gift wrap, through its centers Arenas de Barcelona, Artea, Arturo Soria Plaza, Marineda City, Porto Pi, Saler and X-Madrid.
“The most important role” is a campaign designed by Iboo Agency that seeks “raise awareness and attract more sponsors for the projects”as explained in a statement. And through this role, visitors to shopping centers will be invited to reflect on the role that people play in changing the world, launching the message at a particularly emotional time of year such as Christmas.
“During Christmas, millions of meters of paper end up forgotten in the bins but with this initiative, visitors to our centers will be able to package their gifts and, at the same time, discover how to contribute”explains Víctor Fernández, Head of Asset Management at Merlin Properties.
For her part, María Galán, Project Coordinator at Babies Uganda, has assured: “We are very excited about this campaign and the support of Merlin shopping centres. It will help more people learn about our projects in Uganda and reflect on the important role that each one can play.”
Since 2012 Babies Uganda has built an orphanage for more than 30 children, a medical center, an infant, primary and secondary school with more than 1,000 students, an art center, a multi-sports field and a school for children with visual disabilities, among other projects.
Tangible changes that improve the quality of life of many people and that, thanks to actions like this and the small helpthey will be able to continue improving.
