McCann has announced the appointment of Alvaro Lopez like new Executive Creative Director of the agency in Madrid, reporting directly to Eoin Sherry, Chief Creative Officer of McCann Spain. As the agency reports in a statement, it is a natural movement, “in line with the evolution of the agency after the arrival of the new management leadership, with the focus on elevating the creative product and enhancing internal talent.”
Previously he worked at Del Campo Saatchi & Saatchi, Contrapunto BBDO and Lola MullenLowe in Madrid
With a track record of more than 15 yearsÁlvaro joined McCann in 2016, where until now he held the role of Group Creative Director. Before joining this agency, López worked at others such as Del Campo Saatchi & Saatchi, Contrapunto BBDO and Lola MullenLowe in Madrid. Earlier, he also worked for international agencies such as Leam Mean Fighting Machine, BBH and Saatchi & Saatchi in London, as well as The Vidal Partnership in New York.
Throughout his career, Álvaro has led projects for big brands such as IKEA, Google, X (Twitter), Heineken, Mahou-San Miguel, Foster’s Hollywood, Iberia, Unilever, Toyota, Campofrío, LaLiga, DGT or Coca-Cola, among others.
And his talent has been recognized in the most prestigious national and international creative festivals, with awards at Cannes Lions, D&AD, The One Show, c de co Premios Eficacia, among others.
In relation to this appointment, Eoin Sherry stated: “Álvaro has been demonstrating for years that creativity is a team game. This appointment is nothing more than a recognition of something he already did very well: leading with humility, empathy and example.”
For his part, the creative has expressed himself excited to assume this new role and lead “to such a diverse and talented team to come up with innovative ideas. It is a recognition that I assume with enthusiasm and responsibility, knowing that at McCann there is a tradition of great Executive Creative Directors.” In this sense, it should be noted that Mónica Moro and Raquel Martínez together led the agency’s creativity for more than 16 years and, specifically, Mónica Moro developed a career of almost 30 years at the agency.
