Looking at the footprints we leave when walking on the sand is a common gesture on the beach. Foot Balance, a brand specialized in footprint analysis and personalized insoles, has taken advantage of this behavior to transform it into a simple way to pay attention to foot health with “Sand to Soles”, an action developed together with Dentsu Creative Thailand
The initiative was carried out on Jomtien Beach, in Pattaya (Thailand), where bathers could compare the footprints they left on the sand with a guide of different foot types. The proposal allowed for a first approach without equipment, appointments or changes in the routine of those who were already walking barefoot on the beach.
The creative starting point is precisely in the context. Foot Balance, specialized in personalized insoles, sought to draw attention to a part of the body that, despite the growing interest in well-being, usually receives attention when a problem appears. The beach naturally provided the three elements necessary to address that question: bare feet, visible footprints, and curiosity to observe them.
“Sand to Soles” thus presents sand as an elemental tool to observe footprints. After identifying their foot type by comparing the footprints, participants could continue the experience and receive personalized insoles. In this way, the action connected the initial discovery with the Foot Balance service within the same route, moving a consultation usually linked to a specialized environment to a more informal space.
“Sand is probably the oldest foot scanner in the world, while a footprint in the sand is perhaps one of the simplest expressions of how we move through the world,” explains Ariyawat Juntaratip, Senior Executive Creative Director at Dentsu Creative Thailand.
The creative points out that the beach provided “bare feet, footprints and curiosity”while knowledge of Foot Balance allowed us to give meaning to these elements. The idea, he points out, was to find a use for something as ordinary as walking on sand.
For Foot Balance, the campaign seeks to move its specialization beyond the direct sale of insoles and encourage greater attention to the way people step and move. “Taking care of how we move can change the way we experience life,” says Thanakom Ratchataroj, Managing Director of Foot Balance. As he explains, the proposal arose when he stopped observing the beach only as a beach and understood it as “a huge invitation to understand your feet.”
Dentsu Creative Thailand has served as the main creative partner of “Sand to Soles”, responsible for the strategy, creative concept and management of the brand experience.
