The American midterms will take place on November 3. These mid-term elections aim to renew the House of Representatives (435 representatives) and a third of the 100 senators. American citizens will therefore decide to whom to give the legislative power that will benefit the president in office for the next four years.
Very often unfavorable to the president in office, these elections are essential for Donald Trump who will be less free to pursue his policies in the event of a Democratic victory. And for this, the end justifies the means.
$5,000 for each adult citizen if they win
Here is a new sentence from Trump which does not fail to surprise: “This is my promise: If the Republicans win both the House of Representatives and the Senate, thanks to our economic successes, I will issue a dividend of $5,000 for every adult citizen of the United States“. Donald Trump obviously did not specify how he would finance this, but specified that this sum should be spent in the United States.
According to the United States Census Bureauthe government agency in charge of the census, in 2024 there were approximately 245 million adult citizens in the United States. If we multiply this number by 5,000 we obtain 1,225,000,000,000 dollars which is equivalent to the GDP of Colombia.
This promise, which looks like electoral fraud, seems to be a new demagogic move by Donald Trump to win the midterm elections, which seems to be off to a bad start. A recent NBC News poll estimates the American president’s popularity rating at 36%. A figure which can be explained in particular by the cost of living which has exploded in Uncle Sam’s country, despite the tax cuts put forward by Trump.
“Pretend I’m on the ballot”
To motivate voters to slip a Republican ballot into the ballot box, the billionaire put forward a voting instruction: “I ask you to act as if I were on the ballot.” He also took the opportunity to highlight the dangers of communism if the Democrats came out on top in the next elections.
Gathering in Dallas, Texas, in a room not completely filled, supporters of the American president chanted “USA!” USA! » in support of Trump’s speech.
