The popular test of The Roscowhich until a few weeks ago was part of “Pasapalabra”, can soon be seen in “Rueda la letra”, the new contest whose production Telecinco is working on and aspires to be a key piece on the grid for the next television season.
As Mediaset has announced in a statement, it is already finalizing the production of the program together with Bulldog TV. The audiovisual group, which has revealed few details about the contest so far, has now confirmed that it will be hosted by Carlos Sobera, who “He will put his extensive experience as a presenter of contests and large entertainment formats at the service of the program.“.
Among other things, Carlos Sobera has been host of “50 por 15: Do you want to be a millionaire?” or “Catch a Million”, and in the realm of reality shows he has presented “Survivors” or Big Brother VIP.
On the other hand, Mediaset has announced that “Rueda la letra” will be directed by Rafa Guardiola, who was already director of “Pasapalabra” on Telecinco for the most
ten years in which the contest was part of the network’s programming. He defines it in the statement as a “professional with extensive experience in the genre”.
The Supreme Court established in May that Antena 3 could not continue broadcasting The Rosco
The announcement comes after the movements that have occurred around El Rosco in recent weeks. The Supreme Court established at the end of May that Antena 3 could not continue offering the test by confirming that the property rights of the final test of the program belong to the Dutch company MC&F. The decision thus dismissed Atresmedia’s appeal and ratified the resolution issued in 2022 by the Provincial Court of Barcelona.
Both resolutions consider that The Rosco is an original creation of its authors, Roto Luigi Pianta and René Mauricio Loeb, protected by the Intellectual Property Law, whose rights correspond to MC&F. “Pasapalabra”, on the other hand, is an original British format, called “The Alphabet Game”, whose broadcasts began in the mid-nineties and whose international rights are currently held by the British network ITV, with Atresmedia being a franchisee.
For its part, Mediaset owns the rights to The Rosco for a year, as was announced precisely when the Supreme Court’s resolution was announced. The group reached an agreement with the Dutch production company MC&F, creator of El Rosco, and has worked during this time to shape a new space to host the popular test.
Telecinco released the first teaser promo for “Rueda la letra” a few days ago. In the video, which showed the letters of the alphabet flying over the city of Madrid, he alluded to the return of the test to his grid.
After the decision of the Supreme Court, Antena 3 stopped broadcasting The Rosco and launched A to Z., the final test that “Pasapalabra” has been culminating for a few weeks. The new game is based on “DallAZetA”, a format broadcast between 2022 and 2024 on RSI, the public television of Italian Switzerland.
The premiere of the test, on June 19, gave the contest its best audience result in the last four months. It achieved 1.6 million viewers on average, and 2.7 million unique viewers, registering a 21.9% screen share.
But his rival has counterattacked with legal measures. And it is the Dutch production company MC&F, which holds the rights to El Rosco, announced through Mediaset a lawsuit against Atresmedia for plagiarism and unfair competition for the broadcast of A to Z, considering that there are too many similarities between both tests.
