OpenAI has launched GPT-Live, a new generation of voice models that bring artificial intelligence ever closer to a real conversation. It is based on a full-duplex architecture, which means you can listen and talk at the same time, and a simple user experience supported by voice commands. It is so easy that even older ladies, the population segment that the world considers furthest from technology, can use it. And that’s how he’s communicating.

The company has put the tool to the test with three endearing grandmothers in a video created by the internal OpenAI team. The piece, with a casual and natural tone, shows the three women interacting with the GPT-Live conversational experience and explaining all its capabilities to the audience. The goal is to reflect the convenience and accessibility of the chatbot.

The video, which also seeks to offer an entertainment experience, highlights all the possibilities of GPT-Live. Among them, the imitation of a natural conversation, including signs of paying attention, with expressions such as “uh-huh” or “sure”; quick exchanges of dialogue, or remaining silent when the user needs a moment to think.

OpenAI claims that it is their most intelligent voice model to date. As explained in a statement, for questions that require web searching or deeper reasoning, the tool delegates behind the scenes with GPT-5.5, the company’s most recent model. And while you work to provide a response, GPT-Live can keep talking and keep the conversation going.

All these functionalities, as usual, are also expressed in a series of pieces that specifically show each option, such as its compatibility with images. GPT-Live displays rich visual cards on topics such as weather, stocks, or sports; and also still supports search, memory, images and file uploads.

Likewise, the communication of the new launch continues to give voice to the company’s technical team, who convey to the audience the work process, the strategic thinking behind the development and the details about the technological architecture of the new tool.

The company has already started rolling out two versions of GPT-Live – GPT-Live-1 and GPT-Live-1 mini – to ChatGPT users around the world on iOS, Android and ChatGPT.com.
