Airbnb expands its proposition beyond accommodation with the launch of a private transfer service integrated directly into its application. Available today in more than 125 cities in Europe, Asia and Latin America – including Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Malaga and Valencia – the functionality allows users to reserve private cars for trips to or from the airport or stations without leaving the app environment. The initiative has been developed in collaboration with Welcome Pickups, a company specialized in airport transfers.

The service, accessible from the “Travel” tab, offers both pick-ups upon arrival, with a meet & greet option and an identified driver, as well as departure transfers directly from the accommodation. The entire process, from booking to modifying the route, is managed within the platform itself. The launch follows a pilot carried out in early 2026 in Europe and Asia, where the functionality achieved an average rating of 4.96 out of 5 from users.
The incorporation of transfers responds to a broader strategy by the company to expand its role in the tourist experience. In May 2025, Airbnb launched “Airbnb Services”, a proposal that included categories such as chefs, massages, personal training or photography in more than 260 cities. With this new integration, the company reinforces its ambition to become a platform capable of covering all travel needs, from accommodation reservation to destination mobility.
Dave Stephenson, Chief Business Officer at Airbnb, has indicated that the collaboration is “designed to enhance the guest’s stay from the moment they arrive.” For his part, Alex Trimis, CEO of Welcome Pickups, highlighted that integration allows them to incorporate their service “directly in the traveler’s path”thus entering one of the most sensitive moments of any displacement.
The transfer from the airport is usually the traveler’s first point of physical contact with the destination and also one of the moments in which users resort to external services, from mobility apps to local taxis. By integrating it into its ecosystem, Airbnb avoids this leak and strengthens its position against competitors.
The company has confirmed that the service is not yet available in the United States, Canada or Africa, although it plans to gradually expand it over the coming months.
