“The incredible, almost true story of how Megan Thee Stallion got her pickle-flavored Cheetos back“This is how the snack brand presents its new advertising campaign, with which it communicates the return of Flamin’ Hot Dill Pickle Crunchy, a limited edition variety that it launched in March of last year, and which now returns permanently to supermarket shelves.
This is a delirious advertisement designed by the creative agency Gut Miami and made by director Dave Myers, and in which it presents one of the most unexpected musical collaborations: that of rapper Megan Thee Stallion with the Canadian group Nickelback. The origin of conjugation? Simply because Nickelback sounds very similar to the phrase “Pickle back”.
And that misunderstanding is, precisely, the trigger for the crazy adventure that Megan Thee Stallion embarks on, along with the band, to recover the pickle-flavored Cheetos and, thus, stop the multinational’s attempt to launch an anchovy and mayonnaise flavor variety. They do it to the rhythm of “Pickle’s Back”, a reinterpretation of the popular song “How You Remind Me”, released by Nickelbak in 2001.
Thus, the spot is a fun and explosive video clip for the renewed song, which includes the particular touch of Megan Thee Stallion. High-level robberies, car chases and huge waves of snacks are combined in a way as unexpected as the product itself which, as Cheetos explains, mixes the pickling of pickles with the spiciness of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.
“Cheetos fans made Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Dill Pickle the best-selling limited-edition product in our brand’s history, and once they started demanding its return, we couldn’t refuse“commented Tina Mahal, Vice President of Marketing for PepsiCo Foods United States.”We knew we couldn’t just recapture the flavor. We had to think bigger, be more impactful and create a moment worthy of their passion. ‘Pickle’s Back’ is precisely that”.
In addition to the announcement, the brand will organize a special auction of exclusive objects from the video clip, in collaboration with the Goldin platform. Funds raised will go to the Pete & Thomas Foundation, promoted by Megan Thee Stallion to serve vulnerable communities; and to the All The Right Reasons Foundation, promoted by Nickelback.
With all this, the brand announces the permanent return of Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Dill Pickle, as well as the launch of the Puffs variety flavor. Cheetos claims that these constitute the first Flamin’ Hot innovation of 2026 made without artificial colors or flavors. They have been created using plant-based ingredients, such as paprika and radish, to achieve their characteristic red color, without sacrificing flavor.
